Homework
Homework will be set on Monday and it is due to be completed and handed in by the following Monday.
Maths
In order to develop the pupils’ understanding and also give them the opportunity to revise skills that they have learnt in their maths lessons, the pupils will be set homework online. The children have all their login details stuck or written into their home school diaries. They will be set online activities to support the learning that they have covered during the week’s maths lessons.
Times Table Rockstars will be set in order to help with times table practice each week. It is expected that all pupils will be able to rapidly recall all the times tables to 12x12 by the end of Year 4 in order for them to complete the new Government Multiplication Tables Check for 2019/20.
Spelling
As a school, we have invested in Spelling Shed; we will set spelling lists appropriate to the individual pupils related to their own targets, topic word lists or Key Stage spelling lists. The site offers a variety of fun games and activities to practice these words. In class they will then be given the opportunity to use these within their work to test their recall.

Reading
As in previous years, we continue to ask pupils to read for 20 minutes at home each night and record this in their home school diary. This can be in the form of recording the pages or time spent reading or as a parent or carer comment. Each night’s reading needs to be signed by a parent/carer to demonstrate that they have read.
Topic based homework
This year, we have asked the pupils to complete topic homework linked to areas that they have been studying across the term. The topic is set on the first week of the term and is due in on the final week of term. Pupils are expected to complete one piece of homework from each column: one based on the arts, one using humanities or ICT skills and one piece with a writing focus.
