We are delighted to introduce our Academic Excellence Programme, including free 11+ tuition for Kents Hill Junior School pupils from January 2027.

At KHJS, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to achieve great things. We want to open doors, raise aspirations and ensure that every child has the confidence to discover what is possible, whatever their background or starting point.

Our Vision: No Ceiling on Potential

Our vision is about more than academic results. It is about the people our children become, the opportunities they experience and the confidence they develop.

We believe a child's background or family circumstances should never limit their opportunities. Through free 11+ tuition and a broader focus on academic excellence, we aim to remove barriers, nurture ambition and help every child flourish.

This programme is about much more than the 11+. Problem-solving, reasoning, logical thinking and tackling unfamiliar challenges are valuable skills for all children. By embedding these into everyday learning, we can develop confident, resilient and independent thinkers.

We want every child to leave KHJS believing in themselves, knowing there is no ceiling on their potential and feeling excited about the possibilities ahead.

Our Plan for 2026–2027

We are developing our programme in phases, building a strong foundation before expanding the opportunities available to our pupils.

Autumn 2026 | Building the Foundations

Expanding our 11+ Club to include Year 4, alongside Year 5.
Introducing an adaptive online learning platform, giving every pupil access to personalised 11+ content.
Developing staff expertise in 11+ requirements and selective secondary school pathways.
Recruiting specialist 11+ tutors to join us from January.
Building a culture of ambition, encouraging children to explore their futures and the opportunities available to them.

Personalised learning for every child

Our online platform adapts to each child's current level, providing appropriate support and challenge as they progress. Every pupil will have access, whether or not they are considering the 11+.

Spring 2027 | Launching Free Tuition

We plan to launch our free tutoring programme, starting with Year 4.

Specialist tutors will provide one-to-one and small-group tuition, focusing on key areas of learning to strengthen skills and build confidence. Sessions are planned both during the school day and after school.

More Than an Assessment

Our Academic Excellence Programme complements our broad, exciting curriculum and our commitment to high expectations in a calm, happy and disruption-free learning environment.

Through vocabulary, oracy, debating, reasoning and independent thinking, we want every child to embrace challenge, develop a love of learning and experience success.
