Week beginning: 12.09.2022
Year 6 are well and truly in full swing of learning again. This week they have been immersed into the slave trade in their history, writing and reading lessons. With curiosity and care, they have unpicked different sources of evidence from the time including lots of individual testimonies of people involved in the slave trade, from slaves themselves to those who fought for the abolition of slavery.
In Science this week, our year 6 scientists dusted off their knowledge of electricity and circuits and learnt about how a battery works. They also had the opportunity to use different components of a circuit, such as buzzers, motors, switches and bulbs, and experiment how these work within simple and parallel circuits.
On Thursday morning, year 6 were fortunate to receive a visit from our local Education Officer, Steve Parker, from Essex Police. He delivered an informative assembly to the whole year group, advising them on their responsibility to stay within the law now they are ten years and older. Many children were shocked to know that swearing in public was against the law and the extent to which their posts on social media could stay with them for life.
We are very proud of year 6 this week following their Pupil Leadership Team speeches of which they are eagerly waiting for the results next Tuesday morning.
