Week beginning: 18.04.2022
This week in Year 4 we have started our new topic 'India: The Forgotten Jewel In The Crown'. On our hook day we immersed ourselves in Indian culture. We got to do a whole range of fun activities!
We created our own Rangoli patterns! First, we sketched our designs out and thought about which shapes, patterns and colours to include. Then, when we were happy with our design, we drew them out onto the playground using colourful chalk.
We also learnt all about Henna. We learnt why it is important in Indian cultural and how it is created. We then created our own Henna designs on paper. Then, if we wanted to, we painted the Henna design onto our hands using water colour paints.
We loved getting an opportunity to learn some Bollywood dance moves. We learnt 5 traditional steps and then put them together into a basic routine. We listened to some traditional Bollywood music to pair our dance moves with.
In RE this week, we moved onto our new topic, Hinduism. Hinduism is the main religion followed in India! This week we learnt all about Brahman and the Trimurti. With the new knowledge we learnt, we created fact files on the 3 key gods that make up The Trimurti.
This week in Art, we were exploring how to use water colour paints effectively. We created 2 water colour backgrounds that we will later be sketching the Taj Mahal onto! We thought carefully about the colours we used, how much water we needed and which techniques were best to use to paint the background.
