Week beginning: 25.04.2022
This week in Year 4 we got to develop our food technology skills! We learnt new techniques including: marinating, mixing and the bridge and claw chopping techniques. We made a chicken tikka masala and ensured we followed our design brief carefully in order to meet the criteria and please our intended audience.
In our art lesson this week we practiced our sketching skills. We followed a tutorial that guided us through how to sketch the Taj Mahal. We had to make sure we were listening carefully so we didn't miss any steps! Once we had sketching it once, we thought about what went well and what we could have improved on. Then, we sketched it for a 2nd time. Next week we are moving on to learning about shading and how this can add a new aspect to our Taj Mahal final sketch.
In writing lessons this week, we have continued to immerse ourselves in our class text, Cloud Tea Monkeys. We wrote a character description on the main character, Tashi and ensured we wrote about her thoughts, feelings and appearance. We also did some hot seating this week to try to learn even more about the character. Next week we will be writing a diary entry form her perspective, so we spent some time learning the key features of diary entries this week too!
In RE, we continued our learning on Hinduism. This week we learnt more about Hindu Gods and Goddesses. We played a Hindu God top trump game to expose us to the variety of Gods in the faith. We then gave feedback to the class, any new information we had learnt about the Gods. Then we learnt the story of Rama and Sita by watching part of a visual literacy story called 'The Little Princess'. Using what we learnt from the video, we created a story board that retold the story of Rama and Sita.
