Welcome
Head of Academy's Welcome
A very warm welcome to Kents Hill Junior School!
I hope you find our website informative and helpful and it gives you a good idea about school life at Kents Hill Junior School. However, it can never replace the first-hand experience of coming to visit us to see us in action! Please do contact the school office so we can make sure someone is available to give you a tour.
Kents Hill Junior School is a popular and friendly school for pupils aged 7 to 11. We are an inclusive school and we want to ensure that all of our children can see themselves represented in our curriculum and, in particular, the texts that we read. We strongly believe in providing our children with exciting, creative and diverse learning experiences which build their enthusiasm for education and help them to grow positively as Global Citizens.
We are proud of the team-work with children and staff within the school. Everyone is encouraged to recognise and value their own achievements and those of others. It is our expectation that all individuals will be polite and friendly, with an approachable and respectful attitude. We are delighted to be the first school in Essex to launch the ‘Kindness Matters’ project. This focuses on kindness to ourselves, peers, at home, the wider community and the environment.
Our Behaviour and Relationships policy focuses first on seeing every situation as a learning opportunity with our pupils being treated with overwhelming kindness and a foundation of mutual respect. Through this we build empathic learning environments which allow every child to flourish.
We have some impressive and inspiring learning environments in our school including: our dedicated wellbeing areas to support good mental health practices; our ‘Oasis’ room to support with regulating emotions through soothing the sensory needs; our humanities garden; science lab; outdoor classrooms; school library and our art/DT studio.
Visitors to school and trips out play a key part in a wider offering for our pupils and lead towards preparing them for an annual residential trip to Normandy. This is where the children use their French in a real-life setting, learn about another culture and gain confidence in different situations.
We are committed to building family partnerships and ensuring our whole school community has a voice. We are invested in building foundations for a life-long love of learning. Pupil Voice is really important to us and every child has the opportunity to participate weekly in polls and discussions set by our PLT (Pupil Leadership Team), who are chosen after a full democratic election process.
Safeguarding is of primary importance at our school. We have an incredible team who work closely with our children and families to ensure everyone is safe and receiving the best support we can offer.
We will strive to create the best education for our children whilst they are members of our school community and will work hard to ensure that they are safe, happy and achieving well.
If you have any questions, please email the school office and we will get back to you and if you would like a paper copy of any document on our website, let the office know and they will provide you with one.
Be Ready - Be Respectful - Be Safe
