Week beginning 21.02.2022
This week in Year 4 we have started looking at our new class text, 'Flotsom'. We made predications about the story based on the front and back cover. We thought about what could be stated and inferred from the pictures on the front and from the blurb on the back. We discussed whether the book would be fiction or non-fiction and thought about what genre it may be.
In writing this week we have been completing our sentence staking lessons. Over the next few weeks, we will be writing to entertain, basing our story on the book Flotsom. We tried hard to include expanded noun phrases, fronted adverbials and similes to really capture the readers imagination. We ensured we had our non-negotiables always included, including capital letters and full stops.
In science this week we started a new topic, living things and their habitats. This week we learnt how to classify living things. We learnt the acronym Mrs Gren, these are the 7 things all living things will always do. We then presented our learning in posters. We made a small poster that informed people of one of these 7 features.
In PSHE we completed our start of unit mindmap on our new topic, healthy me. We discussed how we can work to improve our physical health, mental health and the importance of friendships. We made sure to present and layout our work as neatly as possible.
Overall, Year 4 have settled back into school really well this week and Miss Roberts, Miss Jackson, Miss Clarke and Mrs Marable are very proud of the hard work and the perseverance everyone has shown this week. Well done everyone!
