Week beginning: 14.03.2022
This week in year 4 we got to watch two live lessons as part of science week. We watched one on lifecycles where we learnt about the lifecycle of a sheep and a cow. We also watched one on climate change ... did you know some cows are fed seaweed in an effort to reduce the methane emissions!
This week in maths we have continued our learning on decimals. This week we learnt how to write tenths and hundredths as decimals. We thought carefully about what place value column each digit belonged in and made sure to remember that the decimal point never moves. We also had to remember the importance of zero as a place holder. We used all this knowledge to play a decimal place value yahtzee game with the aim of creating the biggest decimal!
This week we have started our writing to persuade pieces of writing. We are writing a speech on plastic pollution. We want to make our readers aware of the devastating impact of plastic and convince them that we need to change!
In science this week we continued our learning on living things and their habitats. We thought about how we can classify living things in a variety of ways and we created venn diagrams to show this.
