Week beginning: 27.06.2022
This week we have been learning all about poetry - we have looked at 3 different types of poems and then have started to create a double page spread all about Indian poetry. First, we wrote Indian haiku poems, then we looked at a range of shape poems and thought about how the aesthetic look of the poem can give clues as to what the poem would be about. We then wrote a poem about India in the shape of the Indian map. Finally, this week, we looked at Kenning poems. First, we learnt what the rules are for Kenning poems and then we wrote 4 of our own - one on monsoons, one on curry, one on India as a whole and then we worked independently to write one of our very own. Our double page spreads are coming together nicely now!
As part of RSE week, we continued our learning of 'changing me' in our PSHE lessons. This week we learnt about making a baby and about puberty and periods. The children were all super sensible during these discussions and asked great questions to find out more. We learnt about what is involved to make a baby and how the baby develops. We then discussed how the female body changes as she gets older, including learning about periods.
In art this week we began our unit of textiles. Our end outcome is to stich a rangoli pattern onto some Binca. To begin with, this week we practiced the two main stiches we will be using, back stich and cross stich. The children showed great determination and perseverance when threading the needle too!
